GEBEDUR™ needles developed and patented by Groz-Beckert are coated with titanium nitride, which gives them their characteristic golden appearance. Shank notch
A shank notch is a recess in the shank that serves to precisely align the needle with the hook or looper. It also prevents the needle from being pulled out of the needle bar during the backward stroke. There are needles with one and needles with two shank notches.
