GEBEDUR™ needles developed and patented by Groz-Beckert are coated with titanium nitride, which gives them their characteristic golden appearance. This coating provides the needles with a higher degree of hardness than standard needles. Therefore, GEBEDUR™ needles offer a better protection against wear and damage, particularly in the point and eye area. Spiral groove
On needles with a spiral groove, the long grooves do not run straight along the needle blade, but in a spiral or helical shape. They are used in inline chainstitch machines where the hook or looper moves along the sewing direction and the thread is guided from the front of the machine to the needle. As threading is carried out laterally from right to left, the thread runs diagonally over the needle blade. Therefore, the spiral groove has the advantage that the thread can lie in the spiral groove during needle penetration.
