Short shank (KK)
Needles with a shorter shank are used when sewing thick or high layers of material. This prevents the shank from penetrating the material and damaging it.
Flat shank at 135°
On sewing machine needles with a flat shank, one or multiple sides of the shank are flat. The flat shanks are used for radial positioning of the sewing machine needle in the needle bar. This ensures that the needle is positioned in exactly the same specified angle to the threading direction after each change. This guarantees a clear position of the needle in relation to the hook.
