Large eye (SA)
In Schiffli embroidery, needles with a large eye are particularly suitable when very thick embroidery threads or fancy yarns with slubs are used. This allows the thread to glide unhindered through the eye of the needle and prevents thread breakage.
Flat shank at 45°
On sewing machine needles with a flat shank, one or multiple sides of the shank are flat. The flat shanks are used for radial positioning of the sewing machine needle in the needle bar. This ensures that the needle is positioned in exactly the same specified angle to the threading direction after each change. This guarantees a clear position of the needle in relation to the hook.
